January done

I have finished January page,

This one is about my DH, originating from Brest, he is also a fan of motorcycles, and likes a lot comic strips. Do you know Gaston Lagaffe? It's a famous 'bande dessinée in France and Belgium, if you know it, perhaps you recognize 'la mouette rieuse' , the laughing gull !

February's up - March is next

I finally finished February - after much consternation due to the fact that absolutely nothing came to mind. I did consider just doing a monotone loomed piece and tacking to a background of the same colour but decided that didn't quite convey the image I wanted. You'll find the finished piece on my blog. Enjoy!!

Finally up to date, March is done

I finally caught up. METAMORPHOSIS is the name of my March page. The return of the sun strongly influenced me for this page. You can see it here.

The hurrier I go, the behinder I get.

But I'm finally done with my March page and have a tiny beginning on April which I hope to finish by month's end. However, the sun has decided to pay us a brief visit so I'm not certain that much beading will occur this weekend. Here's March.

Doll Marcia

I greet you all by saying: Yippee!,
for March I made a springtime hippie.
With various leaves and beady flowers
I spent some most relaxing hours.
MARCIA seems very pleased
that finally she's been released.

This Journal Darling Doll is, wig and all, dedicated to brave and inspiring Pam T.

Come See BJP Work in Denver, Colorado

If you're in the Denver area, you might want to attend the meeting of the Rocky Mountain Bead Society Thursday evening, April 23rd. I will be giving a Powerpoint presentation about the BJP!
Visual Journaling with Beads, Fibers, Threads and Fabric

View over 200 beaded journal pieces by 42 artists participating in the 2007-08 Bead Journal Project! Compelling and inspirational, this unique beadwork tells stories, reveals emotions and follows important events in the lives of the artists who create a visual journal each month during the year-long project. In this presentation, you will see how the first year of the BJP developed into quite an amazing body of art!

I also posted a progress report for my April BJP, which has some BIG challenges for me!

I am still alive, and still in :o)

Hi Everybody,

Just to let you know, although none of my pages are finished... I am still in !

Last year, I could not stand the idea of leaving a page unfininished even for one month. This year I have er... reconsidered. I find this very interesting and have plenty of food for thought.

I wish lots a creativity and happinness to all of you.

April and May

My April piece is finished. It is called April Showers. I fused fabric to background and beaded with seed beads and sequins. I used embroidery for flowers in the grass. One of my co-workers gave me the fabric and it reminds me of Holly Hobbie from years ago. My May piece is called May Flowers. These have really been fun to do.

Tada! March is done!

The latest addition to my triangle pool is March. It's all about friends....new friends and old friends....

It started with another serendipity moment. I purchased a couple of books from my new friend, Robin and then started experimenting with a couple of her stitch combinations. Of course, I liked them so much, that I decided to use them on my March piece. Isn't it lucky that I actually stitched them on a triangle? Okay, that started me on a search for complimentary embellishments. I found a bag of shells from my friend Wendy, some purple pearls for my older sister (it's her favourite colour), green beads for my younger one and the face from a play date with Cheryl & Deb. I grew up in Vancouver, B.C. and I love everything about the ocean. Granted, the shells would be different, but the feeling is exactly the same. I remember the sound of the waves, the smell of the sea, childhood memories, seaside adventures and the total feeling of calm that washes over me as I gaze out over my oldest friend.

December Done and febraury nearly there

I have completed Decmeber and just about february as well.
the picture is on my blog http://didi-beadwork.blogspot.com/
I am quite pleased with how these two have turned out and hope to post the february photos later this week.

Beading Daily Features BJP!!!!

The online magazine, Beading Daily, today featured the BJP including pictures!!! You can read it here.

When Michelle asked me to write an article, I jumped at the chance. My only regret was that I couldn't use everyone's work... She asked me to choose from a variety of themes. What a whirl... All the work is so fabulous... so I sort of did a "pin the tail on the donkey" kind of thing... spun around and pointed...

Enjoy!
